Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 7, 2026

Short version: Capture does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything happens on your device. There is no account, no server, no analytics, and no tracking.

1. No data collection

Capture has no backend and makes no network connections to send your content or information anywhere. Your photos, videos, and their metadata (such as capture date and location) are read and written entirely on your device and never leave it through Capture.

2. Photos access

Capture requests access to your Photos library for two reasons: (a) to add the photos and videos you choose to import, and (b) to compare incoming items against your existing library so it can flag duplicates you have already imported. This comparison runs locally on your device. Capture never uploads, copies, or transmits your library anywhere.

3. Camera and memory-card access

When you choose a camera or memory card through the system file picker, Capture reads the media files you select so it can import them. You grant this access per selection, and it is used only to perform the import you requested.

4. Purchases

Capture offers optional paid upgrades (subscriptions and a one-time “Lifetime” unlock) through Apple’s App Store. Purchases are processed by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy. Capture receives only the App Store entitlement needed to unlock features and never sees your payment details.

5. On-device storage

To function, Capture stores small amounts of data on your device — for example your settings, your free-tier usage count, and a local index of which items have been imported (used for duplicate detection). This data stays on your device and is removed when you delete the app.

6. No analytics, advertising, or tracking

Capture contains no analytics tools, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. It does not use the Advertising Identifier and does not track you across other apps or websites.

7. No third-party sharing

Because Capture collects no data and has no server, there is nothing to sell or share with third parties.

8. Children’s privacy

Capture is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
